MACCLESFIELD MAN JAILED FOR 18 MONTHS FOR VIOLENT ASSAULT ON EX-GIRLFRIEND
Hough, of Warwick Close, Macclesfield, admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm at court on Wednesday.
He was jailed for 18 months and given a five-year restraining order.The court heard throughout the couple’s seven-month relationship Hough had been ‘obsessive and controlling’, accusing her of cheating on him and checking her mobile phone regularly.Using something described like a ‘wrestling manoeuvre’ Hough picked up his victim and dumped her on the floor, before choking, punching and kicking her, the prosecution said.The ‘persistent and nasty attack’ ended when his victim’s friend dragged Hough off her, the court was told.
The victim was treated in hospital for suspected broken ribs and a black eye.Jo Maxwell, prosecuting, said the attack happened after Hough was released from a prison sentence for a previous conviction for actual bodily harm.
She said: “When the defendant was sent to prison the complainant felt that she had finally managed to get away from him.
When he was released, he tried to rekindle the relationship.”
