DAD SUFFERS CARDIAC ARREST AFTER SON BATTERS HIM IN EIGHT-MINUTE ASSAULT
A man has been jailed after he attacked his own father in a drink and drug-fuelled rage.Fury threw a stool at his dad during an incident in August this year, which resulted in the 79-year-old suffering two cardiac arrests in hospital and requiring resuscitation on two occasions.
The court heard Fury was heavily intoxicated, having taken cocaine, cannabis, and drank ten pints of cider.
He then took his father's car and crashed it in an apparent attempt to end his own life, suffering a broken hip and spine in the crash.
Prosecutors described the assault as a 'persistent attack' with Fury punching, kicking, and hitting his father with a stool.
He was caught after police found his wrecked vehicle near Biddulph.
Fury pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm, aggravated vehicle taking, driving without insurance, and failing to provide a blood sample.
He was sentenced to 40 months in jail at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court and banned from driving for two years, extended by 20 months for the jail period.
