ROY RAMSAY FROM FIFE SENTENCED TO TWO YEARS IN PRISON IN KINCARDINE
A man from Fife, Roy Ramsay, has been sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty to a serious assault on his former partner that endangered her life. The court was informed that Ramsay, who has a history of alcohol and drug misuse, carried out a violent attack in Kincardine on January 15, 2023. During the assault, Ramsay threw the woman against a bannister and then wrapped his arm around her neck, leaving her covered in blood and with visible injuries, including a black eye and marks on her neck. Fearing for her life, the woman managed to escape through a bathroom window. Despite being in court, Ramsay violated a contact ban by sending her messages, in which he said, “I’m so sorry. You are my world. I miss you so much. I can’t take this. Are you ok?” The woman responded sharply, telling him to stay away and describing her injuries: “my face is a mess, you nearly f***ing killed me. You are one hated c***. Do not ever contact me again.” Ramsay responded with apparent remorse, saying, “Sorry, didn’t mean that at all. I know I’m an absolute c***, I deserve everything I get.” Following these messages, police re-arrested him. It was also revealed that Ramsay had relapsed into heroin misuse and had previously been found begging on the streets. He pleaded guilty to charges of assault causing injury and danger to life, as well as breaching bail conditions. His solicitor acknowledged Ramsay’s remorse and ongoing mental health issues, including an investigation into PTSD, but highlighted that the risk of re-offending was significant. Sheriff Susan Duff noted the severity of the assault and sentenced Ramsay to two years in prison, stating it was a very serious incident that warranted a custodial sentence. She also imposed a three-year non-harassment order against him.
