POLICE TRAINEE SEXUALLY ASSAULTED WOMAN AND WENT ON RACIST RANT
Connor Smith went on a racist rant and sexually assaulted a female colleague.The incident happened at the Copper Lounge bar in Police Scotland’s headquarters at Tulliallan Castle.
Smith, aged 30, admitted in Dunfermline Sheriff Court that on August 5 at the Police Scotland College, he sexually assaulted a female by placing his arms around her and kissing her on the lips.
He also made abusive remarks towards a man, and repeatedly made inappropriate, sexual, and abusive remarks towards colleagues while acting out sexual activities and acts of violence.
During the racist rant, Smith was triggered by seeing someone in prayer robes heading to a mosque.
He made inflammatory comments about Muslims, imitated praying while performing oral sex, shouted 'Allahu Akbar', pretended to shoot others with an Asian slur, and claimed that shouting 'Allahu Akbar' would bring firearms officers.
His behaviour upset and disgusted his colleagues, particularly one female probationer, who was crying and reported the incident, leading to Smith's arrest.
Sheriff Susan Duff called for reports and ordered Smith to be placed on the sex offenders register.
He is scheduled for sentencing on October 31.
Update 31-10-2025 The sheriff sentenced Smith to 180 hours of unpaid work as part of a community payback order.
Smith, whose address on court papers was given as care of professional standards, was put on the sex offenders register for a length of time not stated in court.
