AIRDRIE MAN JAILED AFTER SENDING 106 THREATENING TEXTS AND KICKING EX-PARTNER'S FRONT DOOR
AN Airdrie man sent his ex-partner 106 texts in the span of four hours before going to her home and kicking the front door.Ross McLellan, aged 32, had admitted a charge under the Domestic Abuse (Scotland) Act 2018 at Stirling Sheriff Court.
The court was told that McLellan had engaged in a course of abusive behavior by sending threatening and abusive text messages to his former partner and visiting her uninvited at her home, where he struck a door.
One of the messages included a picture of her new partner’s car.
The victim, fearing for her safety, ran upstairs, hid, and contacted the police.
When officers arrived, they found McLellan’s texts, but he made no reply when arrested.
His solicitor explained that McLellan was very distressed after the relationship ended, suffering from anxiety and stress, and had been prescribed diazepam, which he believed affected his behavior.
He pleaded guilty at the intermediate diet to avoid his ex-partner giving evidence.
McLellan had previous non-domestic convictions but none related to domestic abuse.
He was fined £1200, payable at £25 weekly, and received a community payback order of 12 months' supervision and a 15-month non-harassment order.
The penalty was reduced from £1600, 15 months, and 18 months because of his guilty plea.
