AIRDRIE MAN JAILED FOR BRUTAL ASSAULT ON EX-PARTNER
A woman was left covered in bruises after her ex-partner, Kieran Lindsay, turned up at her home in the early hours of the morning and carried out a sustained attack.Lindsay, aged 33, of Drumshangie Street in Airdrie, was accused of assaulting the woman on April 25 last year.
The prosecuting attorney Annette Ward stated that Lindsay's assault involved punching the woman repeatedly, choking her to restrict her breathing, and biting her multiple times.
Lindsay appeared at Airdrie Sheriff Court this week to face charges and admitted to assaulting the woman to her injury and the danger of her life.
The court was told that the couple's four-year relationship had ended about a month before the assault.
Lindsay arrived at the victim’s house around 3am while intoxicated, and after they began arguing, a physical altercation ensued.
The victim's sister was contacted later that morning, finding her frightened and covered in bruises.
The police observed bruising on her eye, cheek, jaw, neck, and arms, but she refused hospital treatment.
Lindsay has no previous convictions but was subject to two bail orders at the time.
He also struggles with mental health and addiction issues, for which he has been taking steps to address.
The court heard that Lindsay had no intention to cause serious harm but did admit to the assault.
Sheriff Derek Livingston warned Lindsay that he could face a substantial prison sentence.
However, Lindsay’s sentencing was deferred until next month for background reports, and bail was continued.
