A PREDATOR GROOMED AN UNDERAGE GIRL ON SNAPCHAT BEFORE BEING CAUGHT WITH INDECENT IMAGES.
Ross Gibson later engaged in sexual conduct with another minor, violating a court order that prohibited him from contacting her.The 31-year-old man faces potential imprisonment after confessing to child sex offenses committed at locations in Dundee and Fife over a span of two years.
According to Dundee Sheriff Court proceedings, he employed the username “TJ” to initiate contact with a 13-year-old girl via Snapchat in September 2021, exchanging messages over several months.
The girl later revealed she wanted to lose her virginity, and Gibson subsequently had sexual intercourse with her at an Airbnb in Dundee.
The girl confided in friends at school about the incident, prompting school staff to report it.
Prosecutor Joanne Ritchie stated that police executed a search on Gibson’s residence in Balfour Gardens, Glenrothes, after acquiring information that indecent images were stored on his devices.
Two mobile phones were recovered during the raid.
Authorities found a total of twenty-five indecent images on the phones, some rated at the most serious level of explicitness.
A folder on Snapchat contained images depicting sexual acts between Gibson and the girl.
Although Gibson was released on bail with the condition he must not contact anyone under 16, residents in Glenrothes reported noticing him pick up the girl multiple times in his car and taking her to his flat.
He admitted to meeting a girl with the intent to have sexual relations and to engaging in sexual activity on two occasions—November 7 and November 29, 2021, in Dundee.
Additionally, he downloaded indecent images of children from May 1, 2018, to April 14, 2023, and engaged in sexual activity with another minor between December 1 and 31, 2022.
He also pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis on June 7, 2023.
Further, Gibson communicated with the girl on May 15 and May 29, 2023—violating bail conditions set earlier that month.
His sentencing has been postponed to later in the month.
