PREDATOR ROSARIO DEFELICE JAILED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES
A predator has been jailed after sexually assaulting a girl before carrying out ‘systematic sexual abuse and rape’ of a second.Rosario Bellardita Defelice, has been jailed for 24 years for child sex offences which took place over a several years.
The 52-year-old pleaded guilty to 39 offences which included sexual assault on a child under 13; attempted rape of a child under 13; rape of a child under 16; assault by penetration; causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity; sexual activity with a child; and causing a child to watch sexual activity.
Prosecutor Charlotte Rimmer told Manchester Crown Court heard that he had sexually assaulted one child before warning her not to tell anyone.
After assaulting her, he went on to abuse a second girl, the court heard.
Neither girl can be identified for legal reasons.
Defelice would give the second victim cash and gifts after carrying out the sex acts.
He also sent her sexually explicit messages and showed her pornography on his phone.
Ms Rimmer said that he plied her with alcohol to ‘make her more submissive’, and would also ‘break down and sob’ talking about his childhood.
The girl began to develop suicidal thoughts as a result, at which Defelice ‘lambasted and goaded her’.
“She was an extremely timid and shy girl.
She would cry during the offending but would hide her tears so as not to upset him,” said the prosecutor.
The court heard that he would bring ‘lube’, baby wipes and bin bags to cover the seats in his car, and use a sunshade to cover the windows.
“The defendant appeared to want to make her pregnant, asking to inseminate her and revelled at the prospect of being a father to her child.
During one occasion he told her he wanted to make her pregnant,” Ms Rimmer said.
During another occasion, he said his rape of her was like ‘police breaking down doors’.
In a statement, the first victim said she ‘froze completely’ and wanted to inform someone of what he had done but Defelice had made her ‘scared of the consequences’.
“I was terrified for my safety.
I was angry.
I felt emotionally and physically broken.
I just knew he had the choice to not behave this way,” she said.
The second victim said in a statement: “I never thought I would tell anyone, I never considered it as an option, it was a secret to keep for the rest of my life.
He told me I would go down with him and that everyone would see me as disgusting and dirty.
“I wanted to die.
I didn’t see any point in living anymore.
I never thought I would have the courage to speak up.
It was the scariest thing.
“After I reported it, I became extremely paranoid and had nightmares every night.
I was constantly running on adrenaline.
“I am more than what happened to me and I will survive all of this, even if it takes a long time.” Mitigating, Rachel Cooper said that it was likely that Defelice will be deported on his release from prison.
Judge Hilary Manley told him he destroyed, terrorised and corrupted the childhoods of his victims, adding: “You did anything to continue to get your way and to continue your depraved enjoyment in what you were doing.” Defelice, of Salford, was handed a 24 year sentence with an extended licence period of eight years.
He will serve two thirds of his term in jail.
He was also put onto the Sex Offenders Register for life.
