SALFORD MAN JAILED FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE AFTER ONLINE GROOMING
The mother of a teenage girl who was abused by a pedophile has stated that her daughter now "cannot trust anyone anymore." Dean Clarke, a resident of Salford, contacted the girl through an online video and messaging platform.Greater Manchester Police reported that Clarke was reported to authorities by the girl's mother when she was 13 and he was 21.
The mother found Clarke's messages on a laptop, some of which suggested a sexual relationship, including references to pregnancy tests.
The mother described the emotional impact on her daughter, who became unable to attend school and faced difficulties with eating and sleeping.
Clarke's conduct has significantly affected her personality; she has become withdrawn, finds it hard to form relationships, and struggles with trust issues.
She tends to isolate herself emotionally and does not speak about her abuse.
Following the report, police initiated an investigation.
Clarke was arrested, taken for questioning, and he denied the allegations.
His mobile phone was confiscated for evidence, and he was released on bail while investigations continued.
Analysis of Clarke’s mobile data revealed that he communicated with the victim in a sexual context over a three-month period, sharing images of hugging and a kiss on the cheek.
Clarke claimed his accounts had been hacked and denied the authenticity of these conversations.
He pleaded guilty to two charges of sexual activity with a child and one charge of sexual communication with a child.
On May 14, at Manchester Crown Court, the 25-year-old, residing in Cannon Hussey Court, Salford, was sentenced to five years in prison.
He is to remain on the sex offenders register indefinitely, subject to a sexual harm prevention order, and a restraining order has been put in place to prevent further contact with the victim.
GMP commended the victim for her bravery and encouraged others to report abuse.
