FIRST PICTURE OF 'MERCILESS' MURDERER ROGER HARRIOTT AFTER SLICING SISTER TO DEATH
Roger Harriott, 56, has been sentenced to a minimum of 23 years in prison for the "brutal, vicious and merciless" murder of his sister, Sandra Harriott.
On May 26 of last year, Harriott used a 55cm Samurai sword to attack his sister as she was leaving her home in Ripon Avenue.
Harriott had been "lying in wait" for Sandra, and the attack, which was captured on CCTV, showed him leap from his car and strike her eight times with the blade.
He then stabbed her twice and, as he was leaving, turned back to deliver one final fatal stab to her chest.
Minutes after the attack, Harriott turned himself in to the police, telling them, "I've just killed someone, can you open the door and come and arrest me please." The judge stated that the murder was "foreshadowed by a litany of abuse and threats" and that Harriott himself had described his relationship with his sister as "toxic" in an interview just weeks before the attack.
