ROGER CROWTHER FROM KENDAL ESCAPES JAIL AFTER BEING FOUND WITH CHILD PORNOGRAPHY AND EXTREME MATERIALS
In a case that has shocked the local community of Kendal, businessman Roger Crowther, aged 55, was found to be in possession of highly disturbing and illegal material, including extreme pornography and numerous indecent images of children.Despite the severity of the charges, Crowther was spared a prison sentence after appearing at Carlisle Crown Court to face the charges against him.
Over a period spanning six years, up until 2012, Crowther committed a series of offences that culminated in his arrest and subsequent court proceedings.
He pleaded guilty to a total of 16 counts, which included four charges related to the possession of extreme pornographic images, a category that signifies the most serious level of such material.
Additionally, he admitted to 12 counts of creating and making indecent still and moving images of children, a crime that has profound implications for the victims involved.
The police investigation uncovered a significant collection of illicit images stored at Crowther’s residence in Rusland Park.
The images recovered were classified as Category A, indicating the highest level of severity and concern within the legal framework governing such material.
The discovery of these images has raised serious questions about the extent of his activities and the potential harm caused.
During the sentencing hearing, which took place on a Friday, the court decided on a series of measures aimed at monitoring and restricting Crowther’s future conduct.
He was sentenced to a three-year supervision order, which will require regular check-ins and oversight by authorities.
Additionally, he was subjected to a four-month night-time curfew, restricting his movements during certain hours.
As part of his ongoing obligations, Crowther is also required to sign the sex offenders’ register for a period of five years and must adhere to the strict conditions outlined in a sexual harm prevention order, designed to prevent any further offending and protect the community from potential harm.
