JAILED: MAN HARASSED VICTIM THROUGH ‘PERSISTENT UNWANTED CONTACT’
A MAN has been jailed after he harassed a woman by making ‘persistent unwanted contact’.Jamie Thornborrow was sentenced at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court on April 29 after admitting one count of harassment without violence.
The 35-year-old, of no fixed abode, conceded he had pursued a course of conduct which amounted to harassment by making ‘repeated unwanted contact’ with the complainant in Kendal between February 23 and March 5 this year.
Magistrates jailed the defendant for nine weeks.
They said the offence had ‘more than minimal impact on the victim’ which resulted in her making ‘changes to her lifestyle and phone number to prevent persistent unwanted contact’.
Magistrates added the offence was committed in the context of domestic abuse and noted that the defendant had a previous record for similar convictions.
He was also ordered to pay a £154 surcharge.
