MACCLESFIELD MAN SENTENCED TO OVER 12 YEARS FOR SEXUAL ASSAULTS
A man named Robert Houghton, from Macclesfield, who was identified as a sexual predator, received a prison sentence exceeding 12 years for numerous sexual crimes. The court proceedings revealed that in January 2023, a woman reported that Houghton had raped her and attempted to rape her sometime between 2020 and 2022.
He exhibited sexually aggressive conduct and forcibly placed objects into her mouth, which caused her difficulty breathing.
Houghton was detained in connection with these allegations, initially denying the charges but later being formally charged and convicted of the offenses.
Additionally, in February 2024, another woman came forward stating that Houghton had sexually assaulted her in Congleton during a 2022 incident.
She accused him of touching her without consent and, despite her protests, forcing her to touch him.
He was subsequently arrested and charged for this incident.
On November 5 at Chester Crown Court, Houghton, aged 29 and residing on Moss Lane in Macclesfield, was found guilty of several sexual offenses, including rape, attempted rape, sexual assault, and causing a female to engage in sexual activity without consent.
The court sentenced him to 12 years and six months in prison.
Along with his prison term, restraining orders were issued to protect the victims.
Detective Constable Doug Whitfield commented, “I want to commend the victims for coming forward and speaking to police.
Though their memories will stay with them, I hope this significant sentence provides some closure.
Houghton is undeniably a sexual predator and is now behind bars, preventing further harm.
He showed a complete disregard for his victims and ignored their pleas to stop.
We encourage anyone else affected to contact us, and we will do everything possible to support and investigate these cases.”
