BATLEY PAEDOPHILE ROBERT BRADY SENTENCED TO OVER 19 YEARS FOR ABUSE OF THREE BOYS

In a harrowing case that has shocked the community of Batley, Robert Brady, a 79-year-old man, has been sentenced to more than 19 years in prison for the heinous sexual abuse of three young boys. The sentencing took place at Leeds Crown Court, where the details of Brady’s crimes were laid bare, revealing a pattern of predatory behavior that spanned several years.

According to court proceedings, Brady, who resides on Springfield Avenue in Batley, engaged in grooming and abusing his victims, some of whom were as young as eight years old. The court heard that one of the victims, after enduring repeated assaults, struggled profoundly with mental health issues, including multiple suicide attempts, as a direct result of the abuse he suffered at Brady’s hands.

The prosecution outlined that Brady’s exploitation extended over a period during which he used cash and other manipulative tactics to lure and control his victims. One of the victims recounted how Brady would give him money—specifically, £5 after an assault—and would threaten that more money would be forthcoming if he did not disclose the abuse to anyone. This coercive behavior was part of Brady’s broader pattern of grooming and manipulation.

Brady was charged with multiple counts of child sex offenses. He pleaded guilty to 11 charges, including three counts of indecent assault, two counts of rape, and one count of gross indecency, all related to the first victim. Concerning the other two victims, he admitted to three counts of assault by penetration, one count of attempted rape, and one count of attempted assault by penetration. These admissions reflect the severity and extent of his criminal conduct.

During the sentencing, Judge Robin Mairs condemned Brady’s actions, stating, “You have nothing but callous disregard for the pain, both physical and mental, that you inflict on your victims.” The court also imposed an indefinite sexual harm prevention order, ensuring Brady remains under strict supervision to prevent any further offenses.
