RICHIE TOWNSEND FROM WORKINGTON JAILED FOR MULTIPLE COURT ORDER BREACHES IN CUMBRIA
In a significant legal development in Workington, Richie Townsend, aged 24, has been sentenced to a prison term after being found guilty of multiple breaches of court orders related to his previous convictions.
The incident, which took place in March of this year, led to his arrest and subsequent conviction at Carlisle Crown Court.
Townsend, who had previously been subjected to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) issued in 2014, was found to have violated the strict conditions of this order.
The SOPO was part of his sentencing for serious sexual offences, including engaging in sexual activity with a minor.
The order explicitly prohibited him from having any contact or communication with females under the age of 16, aiming to protect vulnerable children from potential harm.
Despite these restrictions, police officers in Workington discovered Townsend in the company of two girls aged 13 and one aged 14.
This encounter was a clear violation of the court-mandated restrictions.
Furthermore, it was revealed that Townsend had previously maintained contact with a fourth girl, further breaching the terms of his SOPO.
During the court proceedings, Townsend admitted to four separate breaches of the SOPO.
These breaches not only demonstrated a blatant disregard for the court’s orders but also led to the violation of a suspended prison sentence he had received the previous year for other offences.
The combination of these violations resulted in a cumulative sentence of 18 months in prison.
Judge Peter Hughes QC presided over the case and expressed his strong disapproval of Townsend’s actions.
Addressing him directly, the judge stated that Townsend’s conduct was a “deliberate and conscious breach of the terms of your order,” highlighting the seriousness with which the court viewed his repeated violations.
Townsend, who resides at Newlands Gardens in Workington, was thus sentenced to serve the full term in custody, emphasizing the importance of upholding court orders designed to safeguard minors and maintain public safety.
