WORKINGTON MAN FACES CHARGES OF RAPE AND SERIOUS ALLEGATIONS IN COURT
A man from Workington, identified as Robert Tinkler, faces a court trial in Carlisle Crown Court scheduled for April next year.Tinkler, who does not have a fixed address, pled not guilty to eight charges related to a single alleged victim when he appeared via video link from prison.
The charges include two counts of rape, threatening a person with an offensive weapon (a knife) in a private setting, a serious sexual assault, intentional strangulation, intentional suffocation, making threats to kill that caused the victim to fear for their life, and an alleged false imprisonment.
The court has scheduled a three to four-day trial starting on April 1, with a review hearing set for December 12 to assess case progress.
During proceedings, Tinkler only confirmed his personal details and remains remanded in custody until the trial.
