NOTTINGHAM DOCTOR STRUCK OFF AFTER CONVICTION OVER INDECENT CHILD IMAGES
A doctor practicing as a functional assessor in Nottingham has been struck off the medical register following a conviction for possessing indecent images of children and extreme pornography involving animals. The conviction was made after he pleaded guilty at Nottingham Crown Court in October 2021.
During a Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service hearing held on May 5, the tribunal decided that removing him was necessary to protect public safety.
Leskovac stated he only pleaded guilty on legal advice and under duress.
He was convicted on two counts of possessing an indecent image of a child and one count of possessing extreme pornographic images.
As part of his sentence, he received a 12-month community order and a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO), which prohibited him from contacting females under 16 online and restricted his devices.
Mr Ged Doran, representing the GMC, emphasized that the offences are "abhorrent" and violate fundamental principles of medical conduct.
Leskovac also claimed he had not seen the images until police showed them to him, suggesting that an acquaintance from Croatia or a police officer was responsible.
The tribunal found these explanations unpersuasive, concluding that erasure from the medical register was the only appropriate sanction to maintain public confidence and safety.
