RALPH STEVENSON SENTENCED TO 18 YEARS FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN LONG EATON AND NOTTINGHAM
In a case that has shocked the local communities of Long Eaton and Nottingham, Ralph Stevenson, aged 69, has been handed down a severe prison sentence of 18 years after being found guilty of a series of heinous sexual offences committed against a young child.The sentencing took place at Lincoln Crown Court, where the court also mandated that Stevenson must remain on the sex offenders register indefinitely, reflecting the gravity of his crimes.
Stevenson, who is originally from Nottingham but was formerly residing in Long Eaton, Derbyshire, pleaded guilty to multiple charges.
These included two counts of raping a child under the age of 13, nine counts of sexual assault against a child under 13, possession of indecent images of a child, and three counts of taking indecent photographs of a child.
The offences spanned a period from October 2008 to May 2013, during which the victim endured a series of traumatic experiences that have left a lasting impact.
The court's decision underscores the seriousness with which such crimes are treated, and the sentence aims to serve as a stark warning to others.
Following the conviction, Sarah Constantine, a representative of Lincolnshire Police, issued a statement emphasizing the importance of the sentence.
She said, “The sentence given to Stevenson reflects the severity of his offences and the devastating and lasting impact this has upon the victim and their family.” Constantine further expressed hope that the punishment would bring some measure of comfort to the victim and their loved ones as they attempt to rebuild their lives.
She added, “I hope the sentence is of some comfort to them when they try to rebuild their lives and that, one day, they can put this behind them.”
