YORKSHIRE RIPPER PETER SUTCLIFFE HOSPITALIZED IN SUNDERLAND FOR TREATMENT
The article reports that Peter Sutcliffe, known as the Yorkshire Ripper, aged 72, was reportedly taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital late on a Sunday evening.Sutcliffe, an inmate at HMP Frankland in Durham City, is a notorious serial killer who was convicted of murdering 13 women and attempting to kill seven others between 1975 and 1981.
Patients at the hospital reportedly saw Sutcliffe surrounded by guards on one of the wards.
It remains unknown whether he is still at the hospital.
Sutcliffe, who also uses the name Peter Coonan, attacked most of his victims, who were primarily prostitutes, mutilating and beating them to death.
He was arrested in 1981 and is serving 20 life terms for his crimes.
Although registered blind, he is believed to have undergone laser eye surgery at Sunderland Eye Infirmary last year.
Sutcliffe was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia following his sentencing but was transferred from Broadmoor psychiatric hospital to Frankland Prison in 2022 after a court ruling deemed him sane enough to be moved.
