CLEANING COMPANY DIRECTOR GUILTY OF SEXUALLY ASSAULTING TEEN GIRL
The director of a cleaning company has been convicted of sexually assaulting a teenage girl.Peter Soares, aged 46 and residing in Chippenham, Wiltshire, was found guilty of three counts of sexual assault involving unwanted touching.
These incidents occurred in May 2022, when the victim was 16 years old and Soares was 42.
Originally from Portugal, Soares is the director of South West Commercial Cleaning Services Ltd.
Although his current company operates out of Wiltshire, he previously worked for another cleaning firm that serviced multiple organizations in Bristol.
The offences in question took place while he was employed by that earlier company.
At the time of the incidents, Soares was contracted to carry out cleaning at Elmfield School for Deaf Children, located at its former site on Greystoke Avenue in Westbury on Trym.
During one of these assignments, he assaulted the girl in one of the school's bathrooms.
The girl was not a student at the school.
She reported the assaults to police on May 11, 2022, leading to Soares’s arrest in Wiltshire on May 29, 2022.
In court this month, he faced five counts of sexual assault.
On May 21, 2026, over four years after the girl’s report, he was convicted on three counts and found not guilty on two.
Following his conviction, Soares was released on bail and is now required to register under the Sexual Offences Act 2003.
His sentencing is scheduled for August 25.
