MAN JAILED FOR CHILD GROOMING AND SEXUAL OFFENCES
A man received an eight-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to a variety of child sexual offences committed over more than a year.Peter Declan West, born on January 24, 1992, and residing in Alder Street, Salford, appeared at Manchester Crown Court where he was sentenced on July 22.
He admitted to multiple charges, including six counts of sexual activity with a child, three counts of producing indecent images of a child, engaging in sexual communication with a minor, and inciting a child to engage in sexual acts, along with additional offences involving exposing a child to sexual acts and possessing illegal images.
The investigation revealed that West began grooming a 13-year-old girl online in December 2024.
Starting with text messaging, the conversations grew more explicit and inappropriate over time.
The girl’s father noticed suspicious screenshots, which led to West being reported to authorities.
He was arrested in June 2025, where he refused to answer questions and was released on bail for further evidence collection.
Police later confirmed that West and the girl had engaged in sexual activity, with material obtained from his phone providing proof.
West reportedly picked up the girl from Oldham and drove her to his house in Salford, where he used emotional manipulation.
The girl, groomed over a long period, was initially conflicted about her situation due to West’s manipulation.
Nevertheless, she found the courage to speak out, leading to his arrest and prosecution.
Apart from the eight-year prison term, West was sentenced to an additional six-year extended license, ensuring continued supervision after release.
