PRESTONPANS CARER BANNED FOR 'ABUSIVE AND CONTROLLING' BEHAVIOUR
A social care worker from Prestonpans has been permanently removed from the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) register following reports of 'abusive and controlling' behaviour towards two children. The individual in question is Paulina Pietrzak, who is employed at Aberlour Childcare Trust – Lothian Community Connections.
The SSSC's investigation revealed that on January 6 of the previous year, Ms Pietrzak committed serious misconduct involving physical restraint of a child known as AA.
Her actions included holding the child's hands, covering them with a pillow while he was medicated, dragging him by his pyjama top, and shouting at him to 'eat the meds.' These actions caused emotional harm to AA and to other witnessing children.
Concerning another child, BB, she shouted at him, told him to go to his room, took his iPad away and refused to return it, and pulled him by the arm when he did not comply.
The report described her behaviour as serious, abusive, and a violation of the children’s dignity.
The decision to delete her name from the register was made based on her serious misconduct and her lack of insight, remorse, or regret.
The SSSC concluded that the risks posed by her continued employment were too great, and warnings or suspension would not suffice.
Therefore, she is now barred from working in the social care sector under the SSSC’s Fitness to Practice Rules.
