In April 2021, a disturbing incident unfolded in Salford involving Paul McManus, a 47-year-old man whose actions led to his confrontation with vigilant paedophile hunters.The incident was captured on video and marked a significant moment in the ongoing efforts to combat online child exploitation.
Undercover groups Guardians of the North and Dark Justice had been monitoring McManus for several months.
These organizations, operating covertly, posed as underage girls as young as 12 on various social media platforms, aiming to gather evidence of potential grooming and predatory behavior.
Over this period, McManus engaged in a series of disturbing communications, sending explicit messages and offering money in exchange for photographs, as well as asking about the clothing and undergarments of the decoys.
It was only after a year of meticulous evidence collection that the groups decided to confront McManus at his residence in Walkden, Salford.
The moment was recorded and showed McManus, dressed in a Batman T-shirt, sitting slouched in his doorway with his partner standing behind him.
The vigilantes displayed chat logs, revealing the extent of his online predatory behavior, which included threats to rape and beat the decoys.
As the confrontation intensified, McManus suddenly rocked backwards and collapsed into his porch, fainting in front of the gathered vigilantes and his partner.
