BANGOR MAN JAILED FOR LIFE FOR WIFE’S MURDER
Paul Jordan, aged 54, was found guilty of the murder of his estranged wife Betty Jordan, aged 53, on the Maesgeirchen estate in Bangor during July 2017.He traveled to her residence carrying a kitchen knife, motivated by a false belief that she was having an affair, which prompted him to assault her in her bedroom.
Betty later died from her injuries after being taken to hospital.
The trial at Caernarfon Crown Court revealed that Jordan had become fixated on the unfounded suspicion of her infidelity and had premeditated the attack.
Judge Rhys Rowlands ordered a life sentence, with a minimum jail term of 14 years before he would be eligible for parole.
It was also noted by the court that Jordan had struggled with alcohol dependency and mental health problems, which contributed to his violent conduct.
His daughter, Clare Jordan, paid tribute to her mother as an 'amazingly caring and loving' person and expressed her disappointment over her father’s actions.
The case underscored the deep grief experienced by the Jordan family, particularly the children, who are now deprived of their parents.
Additionally, the case highlighted ongoing concerns about violence related to alcohol misuse and mental health issues, which are escalating both locally and across the country.
