PAUL BOATH'S HORRIFIC CRUELTY IN MANSFIELD: DOG KICKED AND THROWN OVER FENCE
In a disturbing case of animal cruelty, Paul Boath, a resident of Mansfield, was found guilty of inflicting severe suffering on an elderly dog named Milly. The incident took place outside his home at 20 Willoughby Court, Mansfield NG18 4LR, where witnesses reported seeing Boath kick the small Cavalier King Charles spaniel and then throw her over a fence. The court heard that Boath’s actions caused Milly significant physical trauma, and he subsequently failed to seek any veterinary treatment for her injuries.Boath’s cruelty did not end with the act of violence. He was also found to have neglected Milly’s ongoing health issues, which included chronic pain. Witnesses described how they saw Milly crying and visibly distressed after the incident, and Boath’s failure to provide her with necessary medical attention was a key factor in the case.
RSPCA Inspector Rachel Leafe, who led the investigation into the case, provided detailed insights into Milly’s condition. She explained that Milly had been crying for a week and a half before she was taken to a veterinarian. When examined, the dog was found to be in considerable pain, especially when touched on her right side, including her face and abdomen. The veterinary team used methadone to ease her suffering, and X-rays revealed that Milly had suffered rib fractures.
The veterinary report further detailed that Milly was highly reactive and in pain when touched along her jawbone and lumbar vertebral region, indicating the extent of her injuries. Despite receiving extensive medical care, Milly’s condition deteriorated, and she eventually suffered heart failure. Unable to breathe, the veterinary team made the heartbreaking decision to put her to sleep to end her suffering.
In court, Boath admitted to causing unnecessary suffering to Milly through blunt force trauma and physical violence. He also acknowledged neglecting her medical needs, which contributed to her prolonged pain and suffering. The prosecution successfully argued that his actions demonstrated a blatant disregard for the welfare of the animal.
As a result of his conviction, Paul Boath was sentenced to a 26-week prison sentence, which was suspended for 18 months. Additionally, he was ordered to complete 10 days of Rehabilitation Activity Requirement and an Alcohol Treatment Requirement. He was also fined £872 in costs and charges. Importantly, Boath was disqualified from keeping any animals for the foreseeable future, a ban that will remain in effect until further notice from authorities.
