MANCHESTER MAN JAILED FOR RAPE AFTER MACCLESFIELD ATTACK
A woman was subjected to assault and rape following a night out after being invited to an 'afterparty' by three men, according to Cheshire Police.The 29-year-old victim had been drinking and dancing with the trio at a nightclub in Macclesfield.
She recalls that the men approached her, they danced together, and shared drinks.
Around 3 am, they invited her to their residence for an 'afterparty.' The woman later woke up partially dressed at a nearby address, with her lower clothing removed.
She then left the premises and immediately contacted police at roughly 4 am on July 23.
CCTV footage of the suspects was released, which led to their identification and subsequent arrests.
DNA evidence connected Omar Bnyan, 23, of St Brendan's Road North in Manchester, to the assault.
He was convicted on January 5 and received an eight-year prison sentence for rape.
During court proceedings, another man, aged 20, was acquitted.
Detective Constable Jas Kaur from Macclesfield CID commented, 'Bnyan believed he could exploit the victim, and even after engaging with police and the CCTV appeal, he denied involvement until the trial, where he could not justify his omissions during the investigation.
Thanks to the victim's bravery and the evidence presented, he was found guilty of rape.' The court highlighted that Bnyan took advantage of her trust, resulting in a traumatic experience for the victim.
