LEICESTERSHIRE MAN, 73, RESPONSIBLE FOR FATAL STABBING OF LONG-TERM PARTNER
At 73 years old, Norman Forde was involved in a fatal domestic assault where he stabbed his long-term partner, Aileen Bell, at their home on Frederick Avenue, Hinckley.
Although he was initially charged with murder, he was later declared unfit to stand trial.
A trial of the facts took place at Leicester Crown Court, which found him responsible for the death.
Forde is currently under section under the Mental Health Act, with police choosing not to disclose his specific mental health diagnosis.
Detective Chief Inspector Natalee Wignall of Leicestershire Police mentioned that "This tragic incident has profoundly affected those close to Aileen, who are still processing what occurred that night." Neighbors described Forde as a "calm and friendly guy," expressing their shock at the event and noting his previous approachable nature.
He remains in hospital custody and cannot be released unless authorized by the Ministry of Justice or a mental health tribunal.
