A man from Hinckley, Nigel Marston, has been sentenced to prison after a series of violent and dangerous actions that nearly resulted in the death of his girlfriend and caused significant injuries to others.
The incident unfolded on October 26, when Marston, residing in Hardy Close, was involved in a sequence of events that culminated in a high-speed police chase and a brutal assault.
According to court reports and statements from the prosecution, Marston had been drinking prior to the events, though not exceeding the legal alcohol limit.
That evening, he engaged in an argument with his girlfriend at a hotel in Cleethorpes.
The altercation quickly turned violent when Marston physically assaulted her, punching her multiple times.
During the assault, he also covered her nose and mouth, temporarily preventing her from breathing for approximately 20 seconds.
This act of violence left her in severe distress, fearing for her life.
