TRANS WOMAN JAILED FOR SEX WITH 14-YEAR-OLD GIRL
The individual known by police as David Orton, also recognised by the name Danielle Rose Gemini, was convicted of engaging in sexual penetration with a minor after a court trial.Law enforcement officers indicated that the young victim was vulnerable at the time and initially did not acknowledge being subjected to sexual abuse.
However, she later changed her statement and disclosed the ordeal to authorities.
The court in Leicester recorded the offender's name as Danielle-Rose Gemini.
The individual was sentenced to nine and a half years in prison.
Leicestershire Police noted that the accused, aged 25, identified as a woman during the period of the offenses; they could not confirm his current gender identity.
Although charged with raping the girl, the jury found him not guilty of this accusation.
Detective Constable Sarah Le Boutillier, the lead investigator, stated: "Throughout our interviews, Orton refused to accept that there was any wrongdoing and [claimed] that they were in fact the victim.
The victim was 14 years old when her parents first suspected something was wrong in October 2020.
Police reports reveal that the suspect was a family acquaintance who often stayed at the victim’s home.
The girl’s parents grew suspicious of a sexual relationship, but she denied these suspicions.
Det Con Le Boutillier explained: "Orton used the victim's vulnerability for their own gain and not only groomed the victim, but also her parents who believed Orton was a genuine friend," She further added: "This was a complex and lengthy investigation; the initial report was made to the police more than two years ago.
The victim's parents refused to accept her initial explanations and persevered with their concerns.
We are pleased the victim found the courage to eventually talk about what she had been through and recognised that she was a victim and that Orton's actions were not that of a friend." The girl came forward with information in June 2021.
The defendant, residing on Willowbank Road in Hinckley, faced four charges of sexual penetration involving a minor and two counts of raping a girl aged between 13 and 15.
The jury convicted him on two counts of penetrative sexual activity with a child but acquitted him of the other charges.
