HUDDERSFIELD MAN JAILED FOR BREACHING SEXUAL HARM PREVENTION ORDER
A Huddersfield paedophile who violated his sexual harm prevention order before it was due to expire has been sentenced to prison.Grandad Nigel Porter was dropped off at Leeds Crown Court by his wife, who stated she could not face sitting in the public gallery.
Prosecutor David Ward reported that between December 22, 2021, and February 15, 2022, Porter, of Park Grove Court, downloaded a total of 28 category C indecent images of children, alongside 31 category B and 16 category C images.
Ward explained that Porter was subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), and during a routine check at his residence, a suspicious app was found and examined.
This check was meant to be his last before the order concluded.
Porter was interviewed on November 29, 2023, and December 21, 2024, denying the offences and claiming that others had used his computers.
However, he later pleaded guilty to making indecent images of children.
Mitigating lawyer Andrew Flint told the court that a pre-sentence report and a letter from Porter's wife, indicating Porter's remorse, had been submitted.
The lawyer noted that although there was a possibility of continued offending, Porter had not committed further crimes since the incidents in 2021, and his offending was described by the barrister as a 'blip' rather than a pattern.
Flint emphasized that Porter’s offences caused him deep shame, including confessions to his wife and grandchildren, and that he had since been disarmed of devices connecting to the internet, with his online banking handled by his wife.
The court heard that the affair strained his marriage significantly.
Judge Clark sentenced Porter to 16 months in prison and imposed a 10-year sexual harm prevention order.
