HINCKLEY MAN NICK TYSON SENTENCED FOR HORRIFIC CRIMES INVOLVING ANIMAL ABUSE AND CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

In April 2018, a disturbing case emerged involving Nick Tyson, a man residing in Pine Close, Stoke Golding, near Hinckley. Tyson was found guilty of heinous crimes that included filming himself engaging in sexual acts with his 10-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier named Coco, as well as sharing indecent images of children over the internet.

Tyson, aged 51 at the time, was sentenced to a prison term of 21 months and was ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years. Despite the severity of his offenses, the court was unable to impose a ban on him owning another dog because he was not charged with animal cruelty specifically. This omission was due to the charges brought against him not including animal welfare violations.

He pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including six counts of making indecent images of children, three counts of distributing some of these images, and one count of possessing extreme pornography. The case came to light in August of the previous year when police officers responded to a call related to older investigations at Tyson’s residence, which had not previously resulted in formal charges.

During their investigation, officers seized Tyson’s mobile phone, along with other electronic devices. A subsequent examination revealed a disturbing collection of illegal content, including dozens of indecent images and videos depicting children. Specifically, authorities found 51 still images and 83 videos of the most serious category of child exploitation material. Further investigation uncovered evidence that Tyson had shared some of these images online through an internet chat platform.

In addition to the child exploitation material, police discovered 11 extreme pornographic images involving animals. Among these were two videos recorded by Tyson himself, showing him engaging in sexual acts with his dog, Coco. The court was informed that Tyson had surrendered custody of the dog to the police, and the animal had since been re-homed.

Judge Richard Griffith-Jones, presiding over the case at Warwick Crown Court, noted that he had attempted to impose a ban on Tyson owning animals but was unable to do so because the charges did not permit it. The judge expressed profound disgust at Tyson’s actions, stating, “During a period when you were no doubt lonely, you developed a sickening taste and a compulsion to watch innocent children being exploited sexually and animals being treated abominably.”

He further condemned Tyson’s perverse behavior, emphasizing that his consumption and distribution of such material perpetuated the exploitation and suffering of innocent children, causing them humiliation and potential long-term harm. The judge also highlighted the gravity of Tyson’s treatment of Coco, describing it as terrible and deeply repulsive to the public.

Judge Griffith-Jones concluded by stating that the sentences could not be suspended, underscoring the seriousness of Tyson’s crimes and the need for justice to be served for both the victims and the community at large.
