NOTTINGHAM RAPIST NEIL WHITTAKER JAILED FOR 15 YEARS AFTER KIDNAPPING WOMAN AND HARASSMENT
A Nottingham rapist who was deemed so dangerous that he had to be arrested by armed police has been sentenced after making a woman's life a nightmare.Neil Whittaker, 44, of Castle Marina Road, has been jailed for 15 years after being found guilty of coercive and controlling behaviour, kidnap and two counts of rape at Leicester Crown Court.
He also pleaded guilty to actual bodily harm and perverting the course of justice.
His heinous crimes, which were committed across the border in Leicestershire, came to light after his victim reported in January that she was being stalked and harassed by Whittaker.
She told Leicestershire Police officers he had regularly used threats of violence to manipulate her.
He also raped her, slapped her across the face, and on one occasion kidnapped her, forcing her to drive with him for miles to confront a man he was jealous of.
Whittaker was considered so dangerous that specialist firearms officers had to be deployed to Nottingham to arrest him after detectives gathered enough evidence.
While awaiting trial, he further attempted to interfere with the case by asking a family member to contact the victim and discourage her from attending the trial.
This led to a charge of perverting the course of justice.
Detective Constable Jack Grieves stated, “I hope, now he is serving a considerable time behind bars, the victim can begin to put the pain she has endured behind her and move forward with her life.
I also hope this case offers reassurance to others in similar situations.
Please don’t be afraid to come forward if you are suffering or have suffered abuse before.
We have specialist teams to help and ensure you receive the right support from other agencies.”
