NATHAN PEDGE FROM GOSBERTON, LINCOLN, SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF YOUNG GIRLS
In a disturbing case that has shocked the local communities of Gosberton and Lincoln, Nathan Pedge, a man with connections to Gosberton, was convicted of heinous sexual offenses involving two young girls aged 5 and 7. The incident came to light in January when one of the victims disclosed the abuse to her mother, prompting immediate action from law enforcement authorities.Following the revelation, the girl’s mother confronted Pedge directly, which led to his arrest. During police interviews, Pedge admitted to the allegations, confessing that he had sexually abused the young girl and also admitted to a serious sexual assault on the second girl. His responses to police inquiries were chilling, as he explained his actions by saying, “It’s just urges. Sexual urges.” He further revealed that he had been sexually abused himself as a young boy, a detail that the prosecution highlighted during the trial.
At Lincoln Crown Court, the prosecution, led by Mark Watson, detailed the disturbing nature of the offenses. The crimes took place between November 1, 2018, and January 7, 2019, during a period when Pedge was homeless and had no fixed address. The court was informed that one victim was just five years old, while the other was seven, emphasizing the vulnerability of the victims.
Psychological assessments conducted during the case revealed that Pedge had confessed to raping one of the girls and attempting to rape the other. A psychologist involved in the case described Pedge as posing a significant risk to children who have not yet reached puberty, underscoring the potential danger he represented to the community.
In light of the evidence, Pedge, aged 26, pleaded guilty to two charges of sexual assault on a child under the age of 13. His crimes were committed over a span of approximately two months, and his actions have led to severe legal consequences.
Judge Simon Hirst, presiding over the case, sentenced Pedge to an extended prison term of ten years. The judge emphasized the dangerous nature of Pedge’s conduct, stating, “I am satisfied that you present such a risk. The psychologist considers that your risk is of the most serious nature and would be likely to pose serious physical and psychological harm. I consider it necessary to impose an extended sentence to protect the public in the future.”
Additionally, Pedge was ordered to be placed on the sex offenders’ register for life and was given an indefinite sexual harm prevention order. The extended sentence requires Pedge to serve at least two-thirds of his term before being eligible for parole, and he will remain on license until March 2032, during which time he could be returned to prison if he breaches the conditions of his release. The court’s decision reflects the gravity of his offenses and the ongoing risk he poses to society.
