NATHAN FU FROM SALFORD CAUGHT WITH CHILD ABUSE IMAGES OF TODDLER IN SHOCKING CASE IN MANCHESTER
In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the community, Nathan Fu, a 19-year-old resident of Salford, has been found guilty of possessing and creating child abuse images involving a toddler. The investigation into Fu’s activities began in December 2019 when authorities from the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (NMEC) in the United States flagged concerns about online uploads of indecent images of children.
At that time, Fu was only between 14 and 15 years old, and he had reported to UK police that an unidentified individual was uploading such illicit content.
However, initial assessments by Manchester Crown Court indicated that there was no immediate evidence suggesting a severe or escalating threat, leading to the case being handed over to local police authorities in Greater Manchester.
It was not long before further disturbing evidence emerged.
Just a month after the initial report, GMP received credible information linking Fu directly to the creation and online posting of 'first generation' child abuse images.
These images were particularly heinous because they were not simply downloaded from the internet but were taken by Fu himself, depicting a young girl, approximately three years old, being sexually assaulted.
Prosecutor Gavin Howie detailed the findings: forensic analysis of the images' metadata revealed that they were captured using a Huawei phone owned by Fu.
Authorities executed a search warrant at his residence in Salford, where they seized multiple devices capable of connecting to the internet, including the Huawei phone.
During the search, officers discovered a disturbing collection of items, including a bag of children’s underwear stored under Fu’s bed.
Additionally, they found a homemade mannequin resembling a young girl, dressed in a teenage bra and girl’s knickers, estimated to be around 10 or 11 years old.
The mannequin was later examined and found to contain a sex toy within it, further highlighting the disturbing nature of Fu’s activities.
Fu was taken into custody and questioned by police.
During the interview, he denied any involvement in sexual assault or the creation of indecent images of children.
He claimed that the mannequin was for comfort, citing loneliness as the reason for its presence.
Despite his denials, forensic analysis of the devices recovered from his home painted a different picture.
The images found on his Asus laptop, Samsung mobile phone, and Sony mobile phone included not only the initial 'first generation' images but also a significant number of manipulated and pseudo-indecent images.
These manipulated images included a photograph of a three-year-old girl sitting in front of a birthday cake, with her head superimposed onto the bodies of adult women in explicit poses.
Other images showed the child appearing naked, with digital alterations replacing objects like a toothbrush with a penis, and images of her dressed in a school uniform with a tie, also digitally manipulated.
The court heard that the images spanned a period of three years, with the children depicted ranging in age from two to sixteen.
Among the most disturbing findings were 58 Category A images, classified as the most severe, along with 87 Category B images, 313 Category C images, and 201 prohibited images of children.
Some of these images depicted children in distress, such as being handcuffed or tied up.
Notably, some images were stored in a folder labeled 'young,' indicating a disturbing categorization of the content.
In addition to the images, Fu was convicted of assaulting a girl under the age of 13 by penetration.
His sentencing is scheduled for October 29, and the case continues to draw attention to the ongoing issues of online child exploitation and the importance of vigilant law enforcement efforts to combat such heinous crimes.
