PEEBLES WOMAN SCRATCHES HUSBAND'S FACE AND CAUSES HIM TO BLEED
A WOMAN who assaulted her husband to his injury has had her sentence deferred for eight weeks at Selkirk Sheriff Court.Fifty-three-year-old Natalia Petrova pleaded guilty to the offence by scratching her husband in the face during an argument at their home in Dalatho Street, Peebles, on October 28.
Depute fiscal Zoe Tranter said the man approached his wife at 2am and told her he wanted a divorce.
At 6.30pm the same day, Petrova was cooking dinner when an argument flared up about him wanting a divorce and she reached out and scratched him on the face.
Ms Tranter said: "The complainer saw the blood on his face and called the police." She argued it had been in self-defence but was taken to Hawick Police Station where she gave a no comment interview.
The court was told that, although the couple were divorcing, they still lived together.
Sheriff Peter Paterson deferred sentence until March 2 to allow the couple’s domestic arrangements to be clarified.
