NASER ELLASE SENTENCED IN FALKIRK FOR RAPE AT EDINBURGH HIGH COURT

On June 19, 2020, the High Court in Edinburgh delivered a severe verdict against Naser Ellase, a man from Falkirk, sentencing him to five years in prison after he was found guilty of committing rape. The court proceedings revealed a disturbing incident that took place on January 13, 2018, involving Ellase and a young woman from Falkirk.

According to court records, Ellase approached the woman outside a nightclub in Falkirk, where she was likely socializing or heading home. He then extended an invitation to her, suggesting they attend a party at his residence. Trusting his intentions, the woman agreed and followed him to his house. However, once inside, Ellase subjected her to a sexual assault in a private living room, a space where no other individuals were present to intervene or witness the crime.

The young woman managed to escape from the scene, fleeing in distress and later being found on the ground, visibly shaken and upset. Her victim statement, which was read during the trial, underscored the profound emotional and psychological toll the assault had taken on her. She described feelings of fear, violation, and lasting trauma, emphasizing the deep impact of the incident on her life.

Throughout the trial, Ellase maintained that the woman had consented to the sexual activity. However, the jury did not accept his claims, finding insufficient evidence to support his version of events. The court's decision was based on the evidence presented, including the victim's account and forensic findings.

In his sentencing remarks, Lord Boyd of Duncansby acknowledged Ellase's awareness of the gravity of sexual violence, despite his background and family values.
