MARK AITKEN FROM FALKIRK SENTENCED FOR RAPE AND THREATS IN GLASGOW
A 40-year-old man named Mark Aitken, hailing from Falkirk, has been formally sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being found guilty of serious sexual assault and a series of threatening behaviors directed at a teenage girl.The court proceedings took place at the High Court in Glasgow, where Aitken was handed a sentence of seven years on Friday, 30 September 2022.
According to court records and police reports, Aitken engaged in abusive conduct towards his young victim on multiple occasions spanning from February to April 2019.
His actions included not only the sexual assault but also a disturbing pattern of psychological intimidation through persistent messaging.
These messages, which were designed to instill fear and anxiety, played a significant role in the case, as they demonstrated Aitken’s manipulative tactics and his relentless campaign to control and threaten the girl.
The victim, who was only 16 years old at the time, showed remarkable bravery in coming forward and providing evidence that led to Aitken’s conviction.
The authorities and law enforcement officials expressed their support and commendation for her courage, emphasizing the importance of her testimony in securing justice.
Detective Inspector Forbes Wilson, a representative of the Public Protection Unit in Forth Valley, issued a statement following the sentencing.
He expressed satisfaction with the outcome, stating, “I welcome the sentencing of Aitken and our thoughts are very much with his victim who was just 16 when she was abused and whose bravery must be commended.
I hope she now has closure with him being sent to jail.” Inspector Wilson further detailed the nature of Aitken’s misconduct, describing him as a manipulative individual who repeatedly sent threatening messages to his victim, causing her significant distress.
The situation escalated when Aitken committed the rape, an act that was compounded by his false claim to be a police officer, which added an extra layer of trauma and confusion for the young girl.
