It is understood that once Morrison’s criminal record came to light, authorities swiftly removed him from the list of approved participants, deeming him “unsuitable” for such programs. This decision was made before the course had even commenced, highlighting the importance of thorough background checks in such initiatives.

Morrison, aged 28 at the time, had previously been sentenced to 200 hours of unpaid work for his assault on a nine-year-old girl during Christmas Day in 2013. The attack was particularly heinous, as Morrison was a guest at the girl’s family home when he molested her and bit her on the buttocks, drawing blood. The girl’s mother expressed her shock and frustration over the fact that Morrison had not disclosed his convictions, emphasizing the need for stricter screening processes to prevent individuals with known offenses from participating in community programs.

The mother recounted that Morrison was present at their home during the holiday celebrations and that he had abused her daughter while she was in her bed. Adding to the troubling context, it has been revealed that Morrison’s uncle, David Morrison, is a convicted paedophile who was jailed for raping a 14-month-old girl. This familial connection underscores a disturbing pattern of abuse within the family.

In a separate incident in January 2015, Morrison’s criminal conduct was again brought to public attention when he was accused of molesting and biting a nine-year-old girl in her own home. The girl’s mother described her horror at Morrison’s actions, which occurred while her family celebrated Christmas in 2013. Morrison, then 26, was a guest at their residence and had repeatedly gone to the toilet, knowing the girl was upstairs in her bed. The assault was discovered after the girl confided in her grandmother, leading to forensic evidence being collected from her pyjamas. Despite this, Morrison denied the charges and forced the girl to testify during a court trial.

He was convicted of sexual assault but received a relatively lenient sentence—a community payback order involving 200 hours of unpaid work within nine months, along with a supervision order and a ban from the area where the abuse occurred.
