MUHAMMAD ZAID'S DISTURBING STALKING SPREE IN FIFE AND GLASGOW REVEALED
Muhammad Zaid, a 28-year-old man with ties to Fife and currently residing in Napier Drive, Glasgow, has been formally sentenced after being found guilty of stalking two women in the Fife region. The court proceedings detailed a series of troubling and invasive behaviors that caused significant distress to his victims.According to court records, Zaid previously lived in Dunfermline before moving to Glasgow. His actions included falsely claiming to be a food delivery driver for Just Eat, a deception he used to create opportunities to contact one of the women in Lochgelly. His persistence escalated when he waited outside her home in a car for approximately two hours on Christmas Eve, an act that caused her considerable alarm. The following day, Christmas Day, he sent her threatening messages, stating that he intended to visit her and would seek her father's permission for her to return to him, despite her clear protests and objections.
Over the subsequent months, Zaid's relentless pursuit continued through persistent calls, voicemails, and unannounced visits, all of which contributed to a state of ongoing harassment. His behavior extended beyond her residence; he followed her to her workplace and waited outside her home, actions that prompted her to contact law enforcement authorities. This led to his detention and subsequent police interview, during which his actions were scrutinized.
In addition to the first victim, a second woman reported similar harassment. She described Zaid arriving unannounced at her home, following her at her workplace, and showing her a receipt claiming she had ordered food she had not. His conduct was deemed increasingly concerning by the court, highlighting a pattern of intrusive and unwelcome behavior. The court was also informed that Zaid expressed a desire to establish relationships but lacked the appropriate boundaries and understanding of personal space.
During the sentencing hearing, defense lawyer Alexander Flett acknowledged that Zaid's actions had caused distress to the victims. However, he argued that Zaid's intentions were not malicious and emphasized his willingness to address underlying issues stemming from his background. The court ultimately imposed a community payback order, requiring Zaid to complete 240 hours of unpaid work over a period of nine months. Additionally, he was banned from contacting his former partner for two years and placed under a one-year period of offender supervision, reflecting the seriousness with which the court viewed his conduct and its impact on the victims.
