FIFE MAN JAILED FOR ONLINE STALKING AND THREATENING BEHAVIOUR
Fife stalker Andrew Scott targeted a woman he met on the internet amid claims he racked up a £40,000 debt by giving her money.Scott, 47, of Brora Place, Crossford, never had a date or met face-to-face.
As his behaviour deteriorated, he put a tracker on her car and followed her, including to her workplace and her children’s primary school.
Scott was found guilty after a trial at Dunfermline Sheriff Court of, between January 1, 2024, and September 2 last year, stalking behaviour in Dalgety Bay, Fife College, Dunfermline and elsewhere.
He repeatedly made threats, shouted, swore, acted aggressively, and made offensive and derogatory comments.
He attended her school and followed her vehicle, placing a tracker without consent.
The woman explained she met Scott online, exchanged very frequent messages, and he would send her money.
She said they had “daily flirty, sexual conversations,” but felt trapped because she owed him a lot of money and continued talking to him due to possible repercussions.
She described fear when he drove into her street, followed her, and left items at her house.
Her defense solicitor stated Scott has a £40,000 debt due to the relationship and might pursue civil proceedings.
Sheriff O’Hanlon imposed a community payback order with 200 hours of unpaid work, a year of supervision, and a two-year non-harassment order.
