HALIFAX MEN JAILED FOR RAPING VULNERABLE TEEN IN HUDDERSFIELD
Two men from Halifax, Mubasher Ahmad and Mehmood Hussain, aged 32, were sentenced to nine years in prison after being convicted of raping a vulnerable 17-year-old girl in Huddersfield. The incident occurred in October 2014 when Ahmad, who was out on the prowl for sex, picked up the girl after she was stranded following a dispute with a friend.
Ahmad offered her food and drink and then took her to a secluded spot where he assaulted her, making it clear she did not consent to the sexual encounter.
Subsequently, he drove her to a meeting with Hussain, who also raped her before driving her home.
The court hearing revealed that neither man used violence to coerce her, but she was described as a 'lone vulnerable female' out late at night who did not consent.
The Court of Appeal dismissed their challenge to the guilty verdicts, stating the evidence was justified and their sentences were appropriate.
The judges emphasized that the offences were prolonged and victimized a young, vulnerable, and alone girl, concluding there was no reason to interfere with the sentences.
The convictions were confirmed as 'safe,' and their appeals against the verdicts and sentences were dismissed.
