A man aged 43 from Ipswich has been sentenced to over 20 years behind bars after being found guilty of 14 sexual offenses committed in the past against two girls.
These allegations came to the attention of police in 2018.
Mohammed Sayid, who once lived on Queensberry Road in Ipswich, was convicted on Thursday, 9 April, by a verdict from the majority of the jury, after a four-day trial.
The charges included four counts of rape, one attempted rape, two counts of sexual assault on a child under 13, six counts of sexual activity with a minor, and one sexual assault involving penetration.
The offences involved two victims one under 13 and the other under 16 at the start of the incidents beginning in the early 2010s.
Both individuals are now adults.
At a court hearing on Friday, 10 April, Ipswich Crown Court sentenced him to a total of 23 years in prison, which includes 22 years in custody and one year on licence.
Such extended sentences are reserved for cases involving severe violent or sexual crimes, requiring ongoing supervision after release to protect society.
Additionally, Sayid was mandated to be listed on the Sex Offender Register for life.
