REGISTERED SEX OFFENDER JAILED
A 60-year-old man from Ipswich has been jailed after breaching his Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and possessing indecent images of children.
David Landin, who resides on Foxhall Road in Ipswich, appeared before Ipswich Crown Court on Wednesday, 29 April.
He faced charges of two breaches of his SHPO and three counts involving the possession of indecent images of minors.
He was sentenced to two years in prison for his offences.
Landin, a registered sex offender, was previously convicted in 2023 for attempting to incite a child under 13 to engage in sexual acts.
His sentence was suspended, but he was also issued a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Following that conviction, he was under supervision of the Public Protection Unit.
He was re-arrested on 1 April 2026 after police discovered he had a social media account he had not reported, breaching his SHPO conditions.
The police executed a search at his residence, seized his phone, and found that he had exchanged over 15,000 messages related to child sexual abuse.
Investigators also detected deleted messages and search history related to indecent images of children.
Printed copies of indecent images were discovered in his bedside drawers, including three of Category A, four of Category B, and twelve of Category C.
On 2 April 2026, Landin was formally charged with these offences.
In addition to his prison term, his mobile phone was ordered to be destroyed, and he was given a further revised indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order to monitor his behaviour in the future.
