Two men, Mizad Miah and Belal Ahmed, who drugged and sexually assaulted an unaware woman, have been sentenced to a total of 24 years in prison.Mizad Miah, aged 24, of Bethnal Green Road, was sentenced to 13 years at Snaresbrook Crown Court on October 12, after being convicted on September 11 of charges including rape, administering a substance with intent to overpower to facilitate sexual activity, and assault by penetration.
Belal Ahmed, also 24, of Devas Street, was sentenced to 11 years after being found guilty on the same date of administering a substance with intent to overpower and assault by penetration.
The incident occurred on November 9, 2017, around 9:45 pm.
The victim, a 21-year-old woman, was picked up in Bethnal Green by Ahmed and Miah, both known to her.
They claimed to show her a flat she was interested in renting but instead stopped at an off-licence shop where Miah got into the driver seat and Ahmed into the back with the victim.
They forced her to drink alcohol by holding her nose, which caused her to pass out.
During her unconscious state, both men sexually assaulted her, with Miah raping her.
When she regained consciousness, she was on the roadside in just her vest and underwear, with Miah and Ahmed outside laughing at her.
They later collected her discarded clothing and drove her around various car parks before dropping her off near Bow Creek at around 3 am.
She reported the incident to police the following day.
CCTV footage showed the men tampering with the alcohol, which contained MDMA, causing her unconsciousness.
They were arrested at Gatwick Airport on November 18, after returning from Morocco.
The police praised the victim for her courage and her testimony, which was instrumental in securing the convictions.
