JAILED: RAPIST WHO REPEATEDLY ATTACKED WOMAN IN HER OWN HOME
A man responsible for repeated sexual assaults and physical attacks on a woman in her home, including acts of spitting and urinating on her, has been sentenced to prison.Charles Akpoveta, a delivery driver residing in Luton, traveled to London on February 29, 2020, after establishing contact through a social media application with a woman aged 28.
They visited her flat in Tower Hamlets, where they engaged in consensual sexual activity.
However, following this, Akpoveta’s behavior shifted dramatically when he spat in her face.
The woman requested he leave her residence, but he refused and proceeded to lock and chain her front door.
Over the next two to three hours, he imposed a series of violent assaults, which included beating, biting, strangling, and urinating on her.
The victim was able to contact the police during the ordeal.
Officers arrived, arrested Akpoveta, and he was subsequently charged with multiple crimes.
In November 2022, Akpoveta was convicted at Snaresbrook Crown Court of four counts of rape, three counts of assault by penetration, three counts of sexual assault, and one count of causing a person to engage in non-consensual sexual activity.
These verdicts supplemented earlier convictions from a 2020 trial for three counts of assault by beating.
The 33-year-old was sentenced to 17 years in prison in a hearing held on January 17, Monday.
