PROLIFIC CHILD SEX ABUSER JAILED FOR 14 YEARS AFTER ASSAULTING EIGHT-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN TOWER HAMLETS
A child sex offender, described as being highly prolific, has received a 14-year prison sentence for abusing a young girl in Tower Hamlets, east London, when she was only eight years old.Muhammad Talukdar, aged 51, was convicted on three counts of rape and four counts of sexual assault, with the sentence handed down on May 31 at Snaresbrook Crown Court.
The abuse began in 1998, when the victim was eight years old and Talukdar was in his twenties.
The investigation was undertaken by specialist officers in 2020, who gathered evidence through medical records, interviews, and therapy transcripts from the victim.
Detective Constable Paul Hawthorn, who led the inquiry, praised the victim's courage: “I’d like to commend the bravery of the victim for her strength throughout this investigation.
“I hope this case serves as inspiration to others who may understandably fear speaking out against this kind of abhorrent abuse.” He added: “Officers showed true determination in securing justice on behalf of the victim and I’d like to thank them for their dedication - they are a credit to the Met.
“We will continue to build cases against prolific and dangerous predators like Talukdar as part of our commitment to protecting women and girls and eradicating sexual violence.
“We would urge anyone who has been a victim of abuse – no matter how long ago – to please come forward to police and get the support you so rightly deserve”.
