TOWER HAMLETS MAN JAILED FOR CONTROLLING AND ASSAULTING WIFE WITH STAIRS AND TRACKING APP
A man has been jailed for almost 15 years after controlling his partner with cameras and a tracking app, physically assaulting her by throwing her down stairs and biting her thumb so hard it broke.Police responded to a disturbance in Tower Hamlets on November 14, where they found the female victim with severe injuries including a swollen face, multiple fractures to her eye socket, a visibly broken arm, and a broken thumb attributed to being bitten.
Marian Floarea, 45, was arrested on scene for grievous bodily harm and taken into custody.
The victim, who spoke only Romanian, detailed to police how Floarea had beaten her in a jealous rage before throwing her down the stairs and monitoring her through installed cameras and tracking apps.
Floarea was charged on November 16, and during court proceedings at Snaresbrook Crown Court on July 12, he was convicted of two counts of grievous bodily harm and one count of controlling and coercive behaviour.
The judge, His Honour Judge Charles Falk, sentenced Floarea to 14 years and nine months in prison and remarked, “Men like you never change.
The law is there to protect partners from men like you.” The police praised the victim’s bravery and emphasized ongoing efforts to assist victims of domestic abuse, encouraging anyone affected to seek help.
