DAD GUILTY OF MURDERING BABY SON, MORE INTERESTED IN PLAYSTATION
A man has been found guilty of murdering his one-month-old son, Ollie Davis, who died in Leicester in October 2017 following an assault by his father, Michael Davis, aged 29.Ollie sustained a fractured neck and 20 damaged ribs from the attack.
Reports from The Mirror state that Davis was tried alongside his partner, Kayleigh Driver.
She was acquitted of murder but convicted of causing or permitting the child's death and allowing serious physical injury.
During the trial at Leicester Crown Court, the jury was told that Davis appeared to prioritize his PlayStation over caring for Ollie, who suffered 37 injuries, including a broken neck, before he died.
Medical experts testified that Ollie would have been in considerable pain for about ten days prior to his death on October 21, 2017, having suffered from injuries such as 23 fractured ribs and brain injury.
The court also learned that Ollie was found lifeless in his bedroom, with fractures to his skull, collarbone, arms, and joints.
Davis acknowledged feeling unready for fatherhood and described the pregnancy as unplanned.
He revealed that he dedicated much of his time to playing on his PlayStation 4, including games like Fortnite, Grand Theft Auto, and Assassin's Creed, as well as mobile games and early morning wrestling shows.
He said, “I know lots of people who have kids and play PlayStation as well.” The court was told that no one living at the Leicester address noticed any signs of distress in Ollie prior to his death.

Justice Cotter ordered Davis to remain in custody and granted conditional bail to Driver.
Both faces mandatory sentencing: Davis for life, with sentencing scheduled for April 10 at a Loughborough court.
