NHS WORKER PLEADS GUILTY TO DOMESTIC ASSAULT OVER MONEY DISPUTE
Michael Chapman, an NHS worker aged 56, 'lost his temper' during a heated argument with his boyfriend over money and physically assaulted him.According to reports, Chapman struck his partner 'three or four times to the face' in a volatile relationship, which he described as having 'got out of hand.' The victim, who is identified as the defendant’s partner at the time, called emergency services after the attack.
Chapman admitted in a police interview to hitting his partner 'three or four times to the face.' The incident was considered aggravated by its domestic nature.
During a court appearance at Teesside Magistrates’ Court, Chapman pleaded guilty to assault by beating.
The court heard that the last time he faced court was in July of the previous year for criminal damage.
Chapman stated that the relationship was 'volatile' from the start and that their arguments, primarily about finances, sometimes escalated into violence.
He expressed regret, calling it 'a horrible incident' and wished it hadn't happened.
Judge Helen Cousins imposed a fine of £440 on Chapman and emphasized that domestic abuse is 'treated seriously.' A record of domestic abuse will be registered against him should he appear in court again.
