MICHAEL AUBREY SENTENCED IN NUNEATON FOR HORRIFIC CHILD BRAIN DAMAGE CASE
In a case that has shocked the community of Nuneaton, Michael Aubrey has been handed a severe prison sentence of 16 years after being found guilty of inflicting catastrophic injuries on a 14-month-old toddler under his care.The incident, which took place in March 2018, resulted in lifelong brain damage for the young boy, leaving a lasting scar on the child's life and deeply affecting his family.
According to court records, Aubrey pleaded guilty to the charge of wounding with intent during proceedings at Coventry Crown Court on Thursday, November 25.
The court was presented with medical evidence that confirmed the child had been subjected to violent shaking and had his head forcefully struck against a wall, actions that directly caused the severe brain injury.
The child's mother arrived at the residence in Nuneaton to find her son unconscious and experiencing a seizure, lying on the floor in distress.
The only other individual present at the scene was Aubrey, who was subsequently questioned by police officers.
Medical professionals confirmed that the injuries sustained by the toddler were not accidental, prompting a police investigation into the circumstances.
Initially, Aubrey denied any involvement in causing the injuries.
However, he changed his stance and admitted guilt just one day before the trial commenced.
The victim has not disclosed how Aubrey inflicted the injuries or what his motives might have been, leaving many questions unanswered.
In addition to the charges related to the toddler, Aubrey was convicted of assault and theft involving a woman in Leamington in 2019.
